Infection can be regarded as a war where the pathogenic microorganism is the attacker and we are the defender. In the Center for Infectious and Inflammatory Disease, we are interested in understanding the molecular details of these wars so that we can design strategies to block the attack molecules of the microbe and boost the defense systems of the challenged host.
In these studies, we are using a multi-disciplinary approach from x-ray crystallography to human genetics and collaborate extensively with different experts in various fields. Our goal is to develop novel strategies and products to prevent and treat infectious diseases and their sequealla.
