Core Description

The Rigor and Reproducibility Consulting Core at the Institute of Biosciences and Technology, Texas A&M University Health Science Center, provides expert guidance and services in statistical and bioinformatics methodologies to enhance the scientific integrity, reproducibility, and rigor of biomedical research. Our goal is to empower investigators with high-quality analysis, optimized study design, and support for grant preparation and research execution.

Available Services

Biostatistics Services

We offer professional guidance in all aspects of statistical methodology, including:

  • Experimental design, randomization, and blinding
  • Power analysis and sample size estimation
  • Statistical protocol development for grant applications
  • Data management
  • Guidance on ensuring rigor and reproducibility

Bioinformatics Support

Our bioinformatics support includes both service-based analysis and collaborative research engagement:

  • Development and implementation of customized bioinformatics pipelines tailored to your study and dataset
  • Data preprocessing, normalization, and quality control
  • Multi-omics data analysis
  • Integration of multi-omics data and visualization
  • Assistance with reproducible workflows and data validation

For projects that require substantial core personnel involvement, such as collaborative development of analysis methods or software tools, we encourage investigators to include core staff effort in the grant budget. We welcome discussions about formal research collaborations and long-term project support.

Training Programs

The core is dedicated to advancing the training of emerging scientists in the principles and best practices of rigor and reproducibility. We collaborate with experts across diverse disciplines, including statistics, computer science, and both animal and human research, to deliver high-impact educational experiences. Our offerings include workshops, short courses, and webinars tailored for predoctoral students, postdoctoral fellows, and early-career investigators. To support and expand these training efforts, we actively pursue extramural funding opportunities and seek to integrate educational activities into broader research and institutional initiatives.
